![]() These “invisible” individuals perform vital services within their communities but lack access to the resources that would allow them to contribute more widely. With this effort, Baca has given worldwide visibility to the neighborhood groups that have been hidden in plain sight for decades. Her vision was realized with more than 5,000 participants from 240 community organizations who contributed their unique art talents toward the realization of Twin Silo Park as a new public plaza at Colorado State University. When artist Judith Baca was invited to create Twin Silo Park in 2006, she envisioned a participatory art project that would engage all age groups and abilities – from children to community leaders professional artists to anonymous passersby school to prison and senior citizen, to youth. They have been listed as historically significant structures by the city of Fort Collins since 1994. The concrete silos were built as grain storage facilities in 1931 by Emery-Waterhouse Grain Company to store wheat for shipment across the country. Two cylindrical concrete silos, each with a diameter of and a height of, are the centerpieces of this public art park. It is so great to live in a community that really honors developing recreation areas that challenge us and our kids.Twin Silo Park is a public art park, located on the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins, Colorado. I also recommend a towel to dry them off with once they have played in the natural water feature area…the creek. Make sure to bring a snack or pack a picnic lunch because your kids will want to stay and play for a long afternoon of fun in the sun. I think young and old alike should take a walk and enjoy the incredible efforts of our city to create The Twin Silo Park along with other parks in Northern Colorado. We love the park and all it has to offer our community. When my daughter and I went to visit The Twin Silo Park she said…”Why didn’t we have this when I was a kid?” If it had been, I can guarantee that we would of been there often to play. ![]() The BMX Course has been designed by the same designer that created the BMX Track in the Rio Olympics. To complete the over all design of the park it includes a playing area with two full Soccer Fields, Community Gardens, Pickle Ball courts, and a Dog Park. There is even a long walk way with a section for growing hops which is so Fort Collins. This area can be reserved through the parks department for private events. The park developers also reached into the feature of farming with a hydro planting area that surrounds a picnic area. The theme…modern farm…has incorporated experiences of farming, growing gardens, an orchard, sitting on the porch, playing in a barn, playing in a creek….The intent of the design is to pay homage to the rich farming heritage of Fort Collins. The modern day barn design sits directly next to the Silo’s where kids can challenge themselves with interactive games and a narrow 13 feet high suspension Bridge. The Silo’s have been turned into climbing areas and slides that connect the 2 Silo’s…they are super cool. The Twin Silo’s are actual Silo’s that were re-established and renovated then placed into the park to create the emphasis of the farming theme. ![]() The Twin Silo Park is a modern day twist on elements that one would find on a farm. The City of Fort Collins is committed to developing parks with Themes to encourage our youth and young at heart to get outside and play. ![]() It is obvious that an incredible amount of thought and creativity went into the development of this park. The entire park consist of 54 acres and is exceptionally designed. The Twin Silo Parks is the newest, large city park that sits on the south side of Fort Collins at the Corner of Ziegler and Kechter. ![]()
